Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we need it, and who we have to share it with. Solar is unusual in that getting your system approved and your rebates claimed requires passing your details to several other organisations — so we've set that out plainly rather than burying it.
What we collect
To quote and install a solar system we generally need:
- Your name, address, phone number and email
- Your electricity bills, meter number and usage history
- Which electricity retailer you're with, and which feed-in tariff scheme you're on
- Photographs of your roof, meter box and switchboard
- Details of the installed system, including equipment serial numbers
- Payment details, processed by our bank or payment provider — we do not store card numbers
If you only use the savings calculator on our website, that runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into it is sent to us or stored.
Why we collect it
- To size and design a system that suits your home and your usage
- To prepare a quote and a contract
- To apply for your grid connection approval
- To claim the rebates that reduce your price
- To meet our record-keeping obligations under electrical safety, accreditation and tax law
- To support you and honour warranties after installation
Who we share it with, and why we have to
We do not sell your information or give it to anyone for marketing. We do have to share it with the following, because a solar installation cannot legally proceed otherwise:
| Who | What they get | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Our licensed installer | Name, address, contact, site photos, system design | They carry out and certify the electrical work |
| Synergy or Horizon Power | Name, address, meter and account details, system details | Required to apply for a connection and your feed-in tariff |
| Western Power | Address, system details, installer details | Required for Embedded Generation approval and registration |
| Our STC agent | Your name, address, system details, signed assignment form | Required to create the certificates that discount your price |
| Rebate scheme administrators | Details required by the relevant scheme | To claim the WA Residential Battery Scheme and federal battery rebate on your behalf |
| Our accountant and insurers | Transaction records; claim details if relevant | Tax, audit and insurance obligations |
Regulators including Solar Accreditation Australia, the Clean Energy Regulator and Building and Energy may audit installations. If yours is selected we may need to provide job records, including photographs.
How we store it
Records are kept in access-controlled cloud storage and business software. We keep job records for at least five years, as tax and accreditation rules require, and often longer because warranty claims can arise many years after installation.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system is completely secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.
Marketing
If you ask for a quote we may contact you about that quote. We will only send you general marketing if you have opted in, and every message will have an unsubscribe option. Asking us for a quote is not opting in to marketing.
Cookies and the website
Our website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. If we add analytics later, this policy will be updated first.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. Some records we are legally required to keep — compliance certificates and rebate claims in particular — and we will tell you if that applies.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your information, contact us first and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
